QCMitt
QCMetrix, understanding the demands of the Surgical Clinical
Nurse Reviewers and the effort involved in manually collecting
and entering all the clinical data, developed QCMitt (“The
Catcher’s Mitt”) as a way for hospitals to automatically extract
the required variables directly from their
information systems into the secure ACS NSQIP database.
QCMitt is a data automation tool that allows a medical site
to export and transmit ACS NSQIP information to a remote data
capture interface, which in turn is integrated into the core
ACS NSQIP database. QCMitt reads the export document (written
to a specified XML schema), parses the data, and delivers
the HIPAA-compliant data to the central repository while storing
the non-HIPAA data in a local database within the medical
site.
QCMitt increases the productivity of the nurse reviewer
by streamlining the data collection process while improving
the quality of the data being captured by allowing the nurse
reviewer more time to use their clinical judgment in assessing
the quality of the data.
